Dave Nachmanoff: Press

"...High points on Uncorked are many, and they include 'Coldest Winter', and 'Warren Harding'. A bonus on every song is the fine guitar playing of Nachmanoff, who blends with Stewart’s guitar very well and adds considerable musical interest to the proceedings, especially when he steps to the fore on 'News From Spain' ..."

"Guitarist Dave Nachmanoff weaves and tap dances around Al's lyric's to the point that it elevates the songs to a whole new level of enjoyment!"

“Heartfelt, inspired songwriting…with a delivery both biting and assured."

Paul Zollo - SingOut! Magazine
"But my goodness they work up a storm. Dave Nachmanoff has a rare ability to lay down some solid bass lines during the song verses and soar without apparent effort into the most blistering solos - his playing 'News from Spain' is jaw-dropping. It's also extremely well recorded. Highly recommended."

"...a dazzling acoustic guitarist..."

Al Stewart's name will forever be tied to his breakout hits "Year of the Cat" and "Time Passages". This is unfortunate, because there is much more to this whimsical Scottish folksinger, who weaves humor and historical figures into his polished story-songs. Happily, Uncorked, a collection of 12 songs from Al's back catalogue, recorded live with brilliant lead guitarist and verbal sparring partner Dave Nachmanoff, is a perfect introduction to that "other" Al Stewart.

SS - SingOut! Magazine (May 10, 2010)

"...Stewart has always nailed top-shelf guitar talent - including Laurence Juber and Peter White - and his current accompanist, Dave Nachmanoff, is no exception. His many rousing solos here are highlighted by the superb "News from Spain," in which Dave plucks out lines originally played by keyboard virtuoso Rick Wakeman...."

Joseph W Smith III - Williamsport Sun Gazette (PA) (May 11, 2010)

"Well, I am not even done with my first pass through of Uncorked (track 7) but I'm already  confident to say that this is my favorite Live Al Stewart document of all time. That is no small thing in my book. My first specific comment -has- to be that your vocal backup is just exactly right.... That background harmony is fitting Al's songs to a T. Each song so far breathes new, vital life into Al favorites, old and new... the selection of tracks, too, is superb in combining the new, the classicaly lovely, the old and unfairly neglected and the chestnuts. This album stands on it's own -as an album- Your guitar playing is precise and also emotionally charged ... a lot of times it's one or the other. It's just an all around terrific album!"

Paul Ellis (May 11, 2010)
"In a three hour songwriting workshop, Dave Nachmanoff led six Baltimore Songwriters Association members through a collaborative, creative and structural process that would otherwise have been impossible. In the end we had written a song that everyone liked and with a melody that remains in our heads. How great is that?"
